Senior Pastors Mark and Sonjia Kerr began their pastorate here in September of 1993. Their commitment to follow the Lord's direction for this church has brought about new vision and spiritual growth. With prayer as the driving force, Pastor Mark's passion is to reach the lost. Through his sermons, people are drawn to Christ and instructed on how to apply God's word to their lives on a daily basis.
In addition to shepherding this body of believers, Pastor Mark has an earnest desire to promote unity for the area pastors and churches throughout the surrounding communities. He has served as an officer of the SEKMA (Southeast Kansas Ministerial Alliance) for over the past eight years.
Sonjia, led by the prompting of the Holy Spirit, obtained credentials with the FGEA (Full Gospel Evangelistic Association) as a Licensed Minister in October of 2006, which further enhances their ministry together.
The Kerrs have been blessed with six children. Benjamin, Bethany, Zachary, Emilie, Zebediah, and Abigail.
Assistance Pastors James and Melissa Beck came on staff in December of 2006. Melissa has attended Bethel Church since she was an infant and James became a member at age 18, when he and Melissa first began dating. Melissa has served the church in many areas of ministry, from working in the Nursery, the Children's Ministries and by serving as leader for the Bethel Women's Ministries.
James has also served or assisted with many departments within the church and has held an office on the board of Trustees at various times throughout the years. Together they serve as volunteer Youth Leaders from 1989-1999. In 2006, they both surrendered to the Lord's call into a deeper commitment of ministry. Both have received ministerial credentials with the FGEA and are currently utilizing their time and talents in service unto Him through Bethel.
James and Melissa have been blessed with three sons. Jeremy, Joshua and Jonathan.
